For even more peace and relaxation, the hotel has various wellness facilities, such as a sauna, Turkish steam room, solarium and beauty centre. And if you’d like to take you dog with you, then that’s OK too!
From Hampshire Boshotel – Overberg you can just walk into the Nationaal Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug. This hilly area runs from the Grebbeberg near Rhenen to the Gooimeer near Huizen and contains woods, heathland, sand drifts and grassland. It’s very likely that you’ll come across roe deer, foxes, badgers, rare pine martins and unique birds during your walk. Prefer the city? You can be in Arnhem or Utrecht within a half hour drive. A few tips about the surroundings:
Museums
Kasteel Amerongen was built 700 years ago, commissioned by the brothers Henric and Diederic Borre. Today, the castle is a museum with its own collection of art and antiques. In the Militaire Luchtvaart Museum in Soesterberg there are interesting exhibitions about flying and aircraft throughout the year. Prefer trains? Then the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht is highly recommended. For a broader subject, namely the history of the Netherlands, you can visit the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. The “inhabitants” of the museum tell you special stories about daily life in days gone by.
Theatre
All big theatre performances that tour the country appear on the stage at Theater De Lampegiet in Veenendaal. Check the programme and book your seat in time.
Children
In the Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen more is possible than just looking at special animals. Children can also take part in treasure hunts and experience adventures with real adventurers. To cool off when the mercury reaches high summer temperatures, try the Henschotermeer natural swimming pool. At Pyramide van Austerlitz the children can play in the playground, bump into each other in bumper cars and take a turn on the carousel.
Golf
The Golfclub Anderstein golf course in Maarsbergen offers more than enough challenges. There are no fewer than 27 holes to play on this beautiful course, situated partly in the Gelderse Vallei and partly on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
Restaurant Boshotel Overberg
The serenity of the immediate surroundings of Hampshire Boshotel – Overberg is also found in the restaurant. From here you have a view of the forest. The open kitchen and crackling open fire also give the restaurant a special ambiance. The kitchen has a French-Dutch orientation and uses only organic produce, including those from the “green” butcher, Ton Molenaar in Amersfoort. You can visit the restaurant the whole day for breakfast, lunch or dinner or for a a quick snack.
Brasserie De Holle Boom
Brasserie De Holle Boom is right next to the hotel. It’s highly recommended that you take a bite to eat here; the décor is truly unique. The brasserie is situated in a farm dating from 1886. And there’s a lot on offer: from an intimate à-la-carte dinner for two to a buffet or barbecue for a large group.
