In the immediate surroundings you can find various routes along farms, country estates, castles and through idyllic places such as Lochem and Vorden.

Culture and museums
In the village of Ruurlo you can enjoy picturesque streets, the village church dating from 1350, Agneta windmill from 1851 and the Cuyperskerk from 1871. The Achterhoeks Museum 1940-1945 is in Hengelo, with a collection that includes uniforms and implements from the Dutch, German and allied armed forces. For something totally different, the Dickens Museum in Bronkhorst portrays the life and works of Charles Dickens.

Children
Doolhof Ruurlo is both historic and fun. With its high, green hedges it looks exactly how a maze should look. The largest amusement park in the Achterhoek is in Lievelde and is called Megapret; the perfect place for outdoor fun, indoor fun, water fun and golf fun for the entire family. In Het Land van Jan Klaassen in Braamt children can be pirates on a ship, do somersaults on the trampoline and take a train ride through gnome village.

Golf
The Lochemse Golf en Countryclub De Graafschap is some 10 kilometres from the hotel. You can play on the 18-hole golf course in the Achterhoek bocage landscape. Golfclub ’t Zelle is also ideal for a great day’s golfing on an 18-hole golf course. You can practise putting at the Golfclub ’t Lohr golf course.

In the Hampshire Hotel – Avenarius restaurant you are welcome for an extensive breakfast (with home-made jam!), delicious lunch and extensive dinner. You can order à la carte or go for a menu. The internationally-oriented cuisine adapts to the seasons. Before settling down for dinner in the evening, we recommend starting in the Buffetzaal with drinks by the fireplace.

Tapasbar
You’re familiar with the delicious Spanish snacks in earthenware bowls. At the Tapasbar you can order all the classics, hot and cold and with or without an Achterhoek twist. Such as shrimps in garlic sauce, Naegelholt tortilla from Ruurlo and antipasti with Iberico ham. When the weather's fine, you can also enjoy your Tapas outside on the terrace.
