Modern four-star hotel right next to The Hague Central Station

Hampshire Hotel – Babylon The Hague is right next to The Hague’s central station and has views over Haagse Bos. All the city’s places of interest, such as Mauritshuis, Paleis Noordeinde, Binnenhof, Panorama Mesdag and Madurodam are within easy reach. And with a tram stop in front of the door, you’re in Scheveningen in no time to enjoy a day in the sun, a café terrace and a stroll over the pier and boulevard.

Hampshire Hotel – Babylon The Hague is also the ideal hotel for business travellers. It is situated in the centre and is easily accessible by car and train. The various ministries and large international companies are close by. You’re also in the right place culinary-wise. Throughout the day hotel guests can enjoy The LivingRoom restaurant on the hotel’s first floor. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner here together with beautiful views across Haagse Bos.

In the middle of bustling The Hague

The city centre is within walking distance of Hampshire Hotel – Babylon The Hague. Here you can walk along historic buildings such as Paleis Noordeinde, Koninklijke Schouwburg and the Binnenhof. The Binnenhof visitor centre organises tours of the Ridderzaal, Eerste Kamer and Tweede Kamer (Dutch senate and parliament buildings). Highly-recommended, even for those with only a mild interest in politics! Mauritshuis is close to the Binnenhof. This museum has a fantastic collection of Old Masters, including Johannes Vermeer’s The girl with the pearl earring. Mauritshuis is being renovated until 2014. That’s why part of the collection has relocated temporarily to Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.

Art and Culture
The world-renowned Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, with the largest Mondriaan collection in the world, is certainly worth a visit. View the largest painting in the Netherlands at Panorama Mesdag. On the beautiful Lange Voorhout, you can find the Escher Museum in Het Paleis. You can view almost all works by the famous graphic artist M.C. Escher in Queen Emma’s former residence. Prefer some modern technology to art? Then look, listen and experiment away at Museon science museum. Or visit Omniversum for films about man, nature and science on a huge IMAX screen.

Het Kurhaus and the pier are the most discernible landmarks by which you can recognise ever-entertaining Scheveningen. For beaches and dunes you can also visit Kijkduin. This family seaside resort has outstretched beaches and a lively boulevard.

Particularly in June, The Hague city centre is bustling with music and other events. Well-known festivals include Festival Classique, Vlaggetjesdag, Parkpop, Veteranendag and Summer Spirit Festival.

The exciting underwater world of Sea Life Scheveningen with more than 45 aquariums is close to Kurhaus. An absolute must is of course Madurodam, the miniature version of the Dutch landscape, Dutch cities and Dutch life. A great extra at Madurodam is “Waddenzee” playground.

“Average and very dark!”

Not much to complain ofrrave about... + great location + decor ok + large towels (rare find but big tick!) + pleasant staff - good check in / out and bar service - darkest room I think I have ever stated in. I checked whether there were extra lights and needed to open all the curtains to get ready. Very odd - carpet in 206 did not fit the room - part missing behind the bedside table - no plug by the bed (hence I was scratching around behind the bedside table unplugging a lamp) - two singles - lack of TV channels - when "high speed" internet not great - face time worked ok but only just.

“Great Choice Next to Central Station”

This is literally in a tall bldg next door to the station called new Babylon. There is shopping on the first floor of this building, including a small grocery store. This is a modern hotel that probably caters mostly to business people, but it was great for me. New, quiet, spotless, big room with nice bed. I'd stay there again. Efficient and friendly staff.

“Comfortable hotel, easy to reach by public transport from Schiphol airport”

I stayed two nights in this very pleasant hotel. Making a reservation was hassle free, checking in a two minute affair, as was the checking out. The room was spacious, quite, very well organized, separate bathroom was also big with all the comforts you can expect from a modern hotel. Breakfast was good, buffet style. The hotel is situated next to the The Hague Central station, and close to several ministries (foreign affairs, economic affairs) and other institutions. It is possible to walk to The Hague center easily. Two negative points: I did not understand the climate control in the room, fortunately the receptionist was able to reduce the fan speed. However, temperature control has remained a mystery for me during my stay. The other (minor) negative point was the fact that the city tax was not included in the quoted price. Even though it was a small amount (€3.30), I want to know how much I must pay when checking out when I ask for the cost of the room, not how much the hotel keeps. Anyway, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay in The Hague for business. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well connected.
