You can take beautiful walking and cycling trips in this nature reserve and recreation area, with its 3,500 hectares of forests, heathland, fens, streams and impressive sand dunes.

You’ll find a ten-lane bowling alley in the basement at Hampshire Hotel – Fitland Uden De Vrije Teugel, complete with a grand café and lounge. And in the grounds around the hotel you can undertake many indoor and outdoor activities including miniature golf, billiard golf and survival games. You can also hire bicycles from the hotel to explore the area. There’s an à-la-carte restaurant where you can enjoy an extensive breakfast, lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. In the evening you can also “dine with a difference” in the Fun-cooking restaurant.

Shop ‘til you drop in Den Bosch or Nijmegen

Den Bosch and Nijmegen are around a half hour drive from Hampshire Hotel Fitland – Uden "De Vrije Teugel". Both are perfect cities to spend the day shopping and enjoy a relaxing pavement café. Uden itself is also well worth a visit, with its twenty listed buildings. Tips for a fun day of art, culture and entertainment:

Museums
You’ll find the Museum voor Religieuze Kunst on Vorstenburg 1 in Uden. It’s located in a wing of an occupied nunnery and has one of the most beautiful collections of religious art in the country. In the Boerenbondmuseum Gemert, you can experience life in a Peel-village in 1900.

Places of interest
Uden is a town rich in history. A walk through this “greenest town in the Netherlands” is highly recommended. You’ll automatically come across such places of interest as the Petruskerk, the houses on the Kastanjeweg and the Molen van Jetten. Hidden in the wooded Brabant landscape, between Den Bosch and Eindhoven, is Kasteel Heeswijk. In this former 11th Century moated castle, you can join a tour and admire the salon, knight’s hall, exotic Chinese room, library and other impressive quarters. The Sterrenwacht Halley in Vinkel is open to the public every first and third Friday evening of the month. The observatory’s two-hour programme has readings and a planetarium show, and on clear night, you can watch the night sky.

Children
Uden has lots to offer in the area of theatre. There are many fun performances for the entire family in the Openluchttheater and Vestzaktheater Naat Piek and Theater Markant. In Volkel you can all visit BillyBird Park Hemelrijk. This park has  various indoor and outdoor attractions, from inside playgrounds, rope course, boat slide and puppet theatre to family roller coaster. In the woods near Schaijk there’s a great surprise for the children: the Docus de Das adventure path. Young and old can climb, feel, balance, walk and enjoy in this magical play forest.

Relaxation
In the Brabantse Mill there’s a luxury sauna and wellness resort, De Wellness boat, with saunas, hot and cold plunge pools, hot tubs, whirlpools, heated outdoor swimming pool and beauty and other treatments in the beauty salon.

Something a bit different? “Bourmetten”!

Restaurant “De Vrije Teugel”
The chefs in “De Vrije Teugel” restaurant prepare dishes using local produce as much as possible, including mushrooms from Valkenburg and leek from Noord-Brabant. Every day they prepare the most surprising dishes with the utmost care. What about crayfish tarts, rack of lamb with thyme jus, confit veal cheek and a tart of pure chocolate and champagne? As well as enjoying a delicious dinner, you can go there every day for an extensive breakfast buffet, lunch, drinks or Sunday brunch.

Fun-cooking restaurant
Would you like to try something different and change dinner into an active, fun activity for the whole family? Then we recommend the Fun-cooking restaurant. You can “bourmetten” together around the table. The former you’ve probably done before and don’t need any further explanation about. But “bourmetten” is unique: it means you prepare your own dishes at the table, without the little pans. Something you really need to try at least once!

“Overall a very nice stay”

This hotel has very nice rooms, especially the superior rooms. The room was still a bit dirty, but for the rest our stay was very good. The "eindeloos genieten" arrangement was as always perfect! Breakfast could be better for 15 euros, but everything you might need is available.

“A nice surprise”

Stayed here for the night with my sister for our twice yearly "sister day" and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located in a lovely area, the room was very well - and very differently - laid out, was neat and clean, had a very comfortable bed and a terrific shower. We didn't use the restaurant, but the staff we did deal with (mainly reception) were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return here.

“Very nice hotel, good breakfast”

Very nice hotel. Frindly and helpfull staff. Nice, clean rooms, neat bathrooms and a great breakfast buffet. slight disadvantage is that the hotel is a 30 minute walk from Uden city center. But the walk is good.and easy.

“We expected more from a 4 star hotel”

We visited Hampshire Hotel Fitland Vrije Teugel in Uden for 2 nights. We read good reviews so we we're really looking forward to our trip. Even though it was a bit "in the middle of nowhere", we thought that we at least have luxe rooms. However, for a 4 star hotel we at least expected a kettle in our room. You could get coffee and tea from a public machine in the hall, that was 1euro per (small) cup. The beds were not pleasant for us. Quite hard and we didn't sleep well, even though it was quite. The room itself was nice and subtly decorated. It was small. The bedroom and bathroom were not divided by a wall. It did not have a door. It was open. They probably did this due to the small room. The shower was a rainshower, I did not like the way the normal shower switched to the rain shower. I did not want to get my hair wet but due to the sensitive switch I accidently turned on the rainshower. Also, there was one sliding door to either close the toilet or the shower. So that was a bit weird. The best thing was breakfast, that exceeded our expectations. Service and staff were nice. Advice to Hampshire; place a kettle in the room.

“Corporate retreat hotel...not great for a vacationing family”

This was a bit of a disappointment. The hotel chain had requested we move from another Fitland hotel 5 miles away due to overbooking. Trying to be helpful, we agreed ot the change. This hotel is located in the middle of farm country with no town nearby. It is more of a corportate retreat. Since it was summer, it was almost totally empty of any guests. When we got to our room, the only rooms had king beds. We were sharing two people to a room so we needed to have have twin beds and they had zero rooms with twin beds. The rooms were very different (not in a good way) designed by someone who wanted to make them look cool but not funtional. No place to hang your towel. A sink that was 1" deep so you couldn't wash your clothes. The shower door also acts as toilet door so you couldn't use both at same time. We had to move in roller beds which made it very crowded. We complained to front desk about the bed situation and they did comp us a dinner for our inconvenience but when we went to get the dinner, the floor manager made us feel like we were slime by using free coupons. Then he refused to serve my sons beer because they didn't have their passport identification on them. The only time in our two week trip that my sons were refused a beer. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was nice but very expensive ($25/person). SInce you are so far from any other restaurant, you are pretty much stuck there. We did find an excellent italian restaurant in Uden called the Bella Italia. It is located by the large church. If I had been on a business trip, this hotel would rank higher. Although, you have to be prepared to drive 15 minutes into town to eat unless you want to be stuck eating at the hotel restaurant.
