Sleek design, wonderful beds

Hampshire Hotel – Mijdrecht  couldn’t be located more centrally: Amsterdam, Schiphol, Aalsmeer and Utrecht are all close by. Which is already a huge plus. The hotel’s interior design is surprisingly contemporary and sleek. The rooms are extremely comfortable and each is provided with a luxury bathroom and wonderful beds. For an extensive dinner you can visit the highly-esteemed Restaurant Meesters. In short, an ideal hotel for a weekend away.

The surroundings of Hampshire Hotel – Mijdrecht, the polder landscape of De Ronde Veren, is exceptionally suitable for beautiful walking and cycling trips. For a day’s great shopping and visiting museums, Amsterdam and Utrecht are good options. If you prefer to be on the water, you can hire a boat at Vinkeveense Plassen. Flower fans can visit the Aalsmeer flower auction during the week, and the Keukenhof in the spring.

Enjoy country life

There are lots of outdoor activities for the active guest around Hampshire Hotel – Mijdrecht.  Walking, cycling, jogging, and roller blading: everything is possible. Those enjoying water sports can really indulge themselves in the nearby Vinkeveense Plassen. But for those who prefer culture, there’s also lots to do. A few tips:

As Amsterdam and Utrecht are both easily accessible, there’s a huge choice. You can visit the Spoorwegmuseum in Utrecht for a train journey back in time. Or visit the “Style” icon of the city: the Rietveld Schröderhuis. In Amsterdam there’s Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Anne Frank Huis.

Relax and enjoy the countryside in various places in the green heart of the Netherlands. The nature reserve, Botshol, is a protected bird area and you can paddle through here in a hire boat outside the breeding season. Another option is walking the Demmerikroute, a trip around Demmerik’s open polder, straight through the Utrecht peat pasture area.

Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam is great, especially for slightly older children. The renowned mini-world of Madurodam in The Hague is within driving distance, as is Dick Bruna Huis in Utrecht.

It’s certainly worth taking into account the event programme of large exhibition centres Amsterdam RAI and Jaarbeurs Utrecht. You never know, the Vakantiebeurs or HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show could be on.

French classics with a twist

Grand Café and Restaurant Meesters
There are lots of possibilities in Restaurant Meesters. From a quick lunch or Sunday high tea to an extensive dinner. Just for the two of you or with a large group. Whatever dish you choose, one thing is certain: the Head Chef and the kitchen staff will have prepared it with great care. The kitchen only works with the very freshest ingredients. These are from well-known producers who combine quality and purity with skill and respect for tradition. The Head Chef’s style can be described as French classic with a modern twist. There are delicious dishes on the menu such as veal pastrami, grilled swordfish, home-smoked salmon, rib-eye and a Meesters’ salad with confit polder chicken, cress, baked tomato, pine nuts and olives.

“good for short business trips”

As you have less possibilities to stay during a business trip in Mijdrecht, a good choose is this hotel. MY rating is average, as it's real average for a 4 start rating. The rooms are ok, but the light in the room is like a small candle and bring not much comfort to you. it's ok for watching tv or working with your computer, but it's too less to read a book - even not on daylight. Dinner is good in comparison to the pricing, breakfast is not really on 4 star level. staff is friendly but don't take much attention to the guest. All together I can say, it's an average 4 star business hotel where you can stay for a short time period. If you stay longer, I recommend to search a hotel with more comfort inside.

“Hotel death for sure”

Hampshire is a very basic hotel in the middle of nowhere. There is nothing to do in the hotel but hit the bar. Hotel is on the N201 so you will see and hear plenty of cars and trucks. The lighting in the room is so dim that I took off the shades to be able to read my book. Food is OK, but again nothing to write to Michelin men about. To say something positive: The soft boiled egg was just spot on, and I liked the pink espresso cups. Service is polite and friendly.

“Nice beds”

Room was Okay and we have slept verywell. Breakfast could be better. Eg when they says the eggs are boiled hard, it has To be hard. Also the choice of bread was very poor. The staff was very friendly.

“Gateway to nature on the outskirts of Amsterdam”

Although the Hampshire hotel is located next to a busy freeway, the hotel is perfect for a laidback breakaway. On the outskirts of Amsterdam, there are some fine hiking trails with bird watching and peatlands. Amsterdam is at close range, which is an asset. The amenities are reasonable for a four star hotel: nice and clean room and bathroom, television is a little outdated. Mattress was too soft for me. Breakfast buffet was extensive. We didn't visit the restauran because the menu not appealed to us and seemed overpriced.
