Of course the beautiful surroundings are perfect for walking and cycling trips. But don’t forget to take in the culture. Or visit the Hunebedcentrum in Borger and the Sterrenwacht in the Planetron in Dwingeloo. Other activities in the area include:
The Gevangenismuseum in Veenhuizen is unique. Take a drive in a prison bus and see what the cells look like from the inside. The Herrineringscentrum Kamp Westerbork is in the middle of Drenthe. This area with monuments is also a museum about the history of Kamp Westerbork. The Drents Museum in Assen has an impressive collection of (pre)historic material, such as mammoth bones and bog bodies.
Cycling and walking
For cyclists and walkers there are countless routes to choose from, along the heathland, forests, shifting sands and fens.
