Beautiful location on river Semois

Hotel de la Poste – Hampshire Classic is located on the banks of river Semois in Bouillon, Belgium. The hotel has a rich history, which started in 1730 under the name “Grand Cerf”. In the eighteenth and nineteenth century, this was a well-known overnight stop for travellers travelling by stage-coach to and from England, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Paris. That’s why over the years the name changed to Hotel de la Poste.

The beautiful surroundings of Hotel de la Poste - Hampshire Classic, in The Ardennes, Belgium, guarantee you will have a fantastic weekend away. You can take endless walks in the surrounding forests and choose from the many walks through untouched countryside. From here you can go in any direction in The Ardennes by bicycle or horse. If you’d like a cultural activity, the mediaeval town of Bouillon has more than enough to offer including the castle of Godfried van Bouillon, Cordemois Abbey and Hertogelijk Museum.

Discover Bouillon and surroundings

Discover the green valleys, fish ponds, hunting areas and wildlife reserves in the heart of The Ardennes, Belgium. Weather’s not so nice? Then visit the tourist attraction of Dinant with great shops, cafés and restaurants. Or stay closer to home and explore Bouillon and surroundings. Tips:

Art and culture
Hertogelijk Museum is the place to learn everything about Bouillon’s past. Works exhibited include those from important local painters. In Archeoscoop Godefroid de Bouillon you can see a fascinating audio-visual show about the First Crusade. Here you’ll follow in the footsteps of Hertog Godfried, Pieter the Hermit and a thousand other warriors. The castle was once owned by legendary Godfried van Bouillon, and is in a prominent place in the city: on top of a huge rock. There’s lots to experience in Kasteel van Godfried van Bouillon, such as a bird of prey spectacular and a treasure hunt for the children. There’s also lots to do in Orval Abbey. Here you can visit an audio-visual show about abbey and cloister life, a traditional apothecary and a medicine garden, a cloister museum in the vaulted cellars and a beer exhibition in Orval brewery.

Children
Children from 6 can indulge themselves on Karting Bouillon’s go-karting course. In Bouillon’s zoo, Parc Animalier De Bouillon, you can visit seventy different types of animals in a 2-kilometre walk. These include lynxes, wolves, zebras, birds of prey, bisons, bears and tigers. In Grotten van Han, you can take a trip through the largest cave network in Europe and step on a hundred-year-old tram. With the whole family you can discover the legend of the Giant’s Grave in Botassart. We’re not allowed to tell you any more about this....
