Culture
Beelden in Gees is a lovely English-style garden in southeast Drenthe where nature and art meet. Here you can find art works by thirty artists, a terrace and a gallery. Always wanted to know where these chamber tombs come from and who placed them all over Drenthe? The Hunebedcentrum in Borger has all the information. In the autumn of 1883, Vincent van Gogh lived and worked in Nieuw Amsterdam in Drenthe. You will find out everything about this period in Drenthe in the Van Gogh Huis.

Walking
Explore the wonderful surroundings of Odoorn, situated on the Hondsrug and close to forestry commission sites with extensive woods and moorlands. Armed with a map or just out exploring, you can walk for miles. One lovely route is the 24 kilometre archaeological walk with a northerly loop past Exloo and Odoorn and a southerly loop past Odoorn, Valthe and Klijndijk.

Enjoy a romp in nature in and around outdoor centre Boomkroonpad. Here the children can go on an exciting adventure through a carrot tunnel, build huts and play in the Lorkenspeelbos. Speelstad Oranje has lots of exciting attractions: from a big wheel to a roller coaster and from bumper cars to a giant slide. Want to get your driving licence before you turn eighteen? You can do it in Verkeerspark Assen. Spend a day among gnomes, trolls and animals at Kabouterland in Exloo. Take a step back in time in open-air museum Ellert en Brammert in Schoonoord. Alongside his kitchen team, head chef Rob Hoffman only cooks with carefully selected ingredients. He makes use of sustainable products as much as possible, preferably local or from the province, as well as herbs from our own herb garden. The perfect basis for delicious, pure dishes and interesting culinary creations. You can order from the menu or choose a chef's menu. Restaurant Lubbelinkhof is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and is recommended by Michelin.
