Museums
The beating heart of Het Zuid is Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen, KMSKA. The city’s most famous museum has its own unique collection, with works from Belgian and Southern Dutch artists such as Rubens, Ensor and Fouquet. The museum is closed until 2017 due to large-scale renovation. Until this time, the expositions are given in various annexes. Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen, MHKA, is also well worth the visit. Another interesting, but less known museum is FotoMuseum Provincie Antwerpen, FoMu, with its own collection about the historic development of photography, changing photographic exhibitions and exhibitions from much-discussed photographers.

Places of interest
The beautiful Synagoge Shomré Hadass is just behind the KMSKA, a hidden gem in Het Zuid. This old Jewish synagogue is also called Hollandse Synagoge because it was built by Jewish immigrants from the north of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. A must for lovers of modern architecture is Antwerpse Justitiepaleis, also known as “Vlinderpaleis” and “Frietzakskes.”

Children
Zoo Antwerpen was established in 1843, which makes it one of the oldest zoos in Europe. You can view no fewer than five thousand animals here in a beautiful environment in the heart of Antwerp. Visit Aquatopia to dive into an exciting underwater world, including sharks; also in the heart of Antwerp.
