Within walking distance of De Gelderse Poort nature reserve, there’s the Nature museum Nijmegen. You can learn more about the wonderful world of mushrooms and go on a voyage of discovery through nature. Museum Het Valkhof is also interesting with high-class works by contemporary artists such as Carel Willink and Gustave Asselbergs. Just outside Nijmegen, in Wijchen, you can find Museum Kasteel Wijchen, with its archaeology, contemporary art and regional history collections. The Africa Museum in Berg en Dal has an indoor museum with a lot of art and objects from Africa, plus an outdoor museum with real African villages.

Golf
If you’re a golfer, you simply have to do a round at Het Rijk van Nijmegen in Groesbeek. The club has two wonderful 18-hole golf courses in a stunningly pretty location.

Children
There are more than twenty attractions for children from 2 years upwards at Amusement park Tivoli in Berg en Dal. Each year a different maze route is laid out in the Mais Maze in Malden. Children can also ride on a go-cart or tractor and jump on bouncy castles or trampolines. The largest playground in Nijmegen, Speeltuin de Leemkuil, has a huge range of things to do: from swings to go-carting and a play castle.

From castle breakfast to trendy wine bar

Baron van Luden
Would you like Canadian lobster served with lobster caramel? Or crispy sautéed sweetbread with a smoked beef jus and monkfish cheeks, served with a fresh mesclun and a tomato vinaigrette? It’s all on the menu in the Baron van Luden restaurant. The restaurant is open on Fridays and Saturdays.

Brasserie du Bois
This is the informal sister of Baron van Luden restaurant. The brasserie has a cosy open kitchen and serves extremely varied dishes, from small appetizers to a complete three-course dinner. You should certainly also try the wine, which you can pour yourself in the trendy wine bar. On Sundays the extensive high-tea is highly recommended. And this is also where hotel guests can enjoy a castle breakfast.
