Many places of interest in the area

The location alone makes Hampshire Boutique Hotel - Sebastian's the place to be; especially when you’re on a city trip and want to get to know Amsterdam really well. The hotel is within the canal district, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010. The Dam and the delightful Jordaan are within walking distance. Other activities include:

Art and culture
Westerkerk and Westertoren are not far from the hotel. Anne Frank Huis is close to Westerkerk. Every year, many visitors visit this historic house to see with their own eyes where Anne Frank stayed in hiding during the Second World War and wrote her world-famous diary. There are a number of fascinating places of interest on the Dam, just a few minutes walk from the hotel: Nieuwe Kerk, Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam and Nationaal Monument. At number 51 on the Amstel, there’s the annex of the famous Hermitage in Sint Petersburg: Hermitage Amsterdam. And Amsterdam Museum in the former Burgerweeshuis is very special. The museum is located between all the shops on Kalverstraat and has beautiful inner courtyards, a gallery full of schuttersstukken (paintings) and a well-stocked museum shop.

Children
A trip along the canals of Amsterdam is great to do all year round. There are lots of boat companies in the area, so you can easily step on a tour boat. But you can of course also hire a small boat or pedal boat and explore the canals yourself. TunFun is an indoor playground for children from 0 to 12 in a former car tunnel in the heart of the city. The history of shipping comes to life in children’s exhibitions in Het Scheepvaartmuseum, such as the fairy-tale underwater world of Matje & Roosje and Circus Zee for children up to 6 years.

Shopping
When it comes to shopping, there are possibilities enough. You can go to Magna Plaza shopping centre close to the Dam, to Haarlemmerstraat or Haarlemmerdijk or De 9 Straatjes, where you can find unique and original shops, lunch rooms and restaurants. Large, well-known shopping streets such as Kalverstraat, Leidsestraat and P.C. Hooftstraat are also not far from the hotel.

Markets
If you’re in Amsterdam over the weekend, the organic farmers’ market on the Noordermarkt from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. is highly recommended. You can visit the farmers’ market on Haarlemmerplein every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Every Monday, there’s the famous textile market and vintage and antique market on Westerstraat and Noordermarkt from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“Great short stay!!”

The hotel is about a KM walk from the central station. On a street lined with almost same styled houses you might miss it!! Hotel is located on the quiet side of the canals. A small school is there about 5 houses down the street which is quite pleasant to see kids play during the day. The hotel is not your general huge on scale type. The staircase, lifts and corridors are compact (thats how the houses are generally in amsterdam canal district). Rooms and hotel Interiors are distinctly "purpleish, black and like darker shades", which gives it a warmer feel(might not appeal to some). Reception was helpful with taxi bookings, and places of interest. Recommended. Would stay here again.

“A House of Perfection!”

Hotel Sebastian's Amsterdam! Hotel Sebastian's Amsterdam This is as true gem. The location is perfect for a week-end in Amsterdam, within walking distance of almost everything and with a nice view of the canals. The rooms were impeccably clean and well equipped. The breakfast was all you could expect and more. (They even serve you breakfast for free the first morning to convince you.) But the main thing, the number one reason for staying at Sebastian's is the hospitality and the service provided by everyone there. They have taken customer satisfaction to a whole new level. Would I recomend Hotel Sebastian's to my friends? YES I WOULD!!!! Gro Horverak

“An above average 3 star hotel. Well situated, friendly and good value.”

I stayed here on my own.I have visited Amsterdam four of five times and always stayed in 4 or 5 star hotels with my husband. We loved the Dylan which was stayed in recently, but this time I wanted to save money. This hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the central station if you walk briskly. It is situated on the second canal over from the touristy shopping area. It is small and cheerful. Before arriving the hotel rang to say my room was small and it was, but, it was well appointed and did not have a bad outlook at the rear of the building (Remember what people say about single rooms, they are Invariably facing a wall and located above a kitchen with banging pots all night)! My room was nice and quiet and I looked over other houses and gardens which was quite pleasant. My room was well equipped with lights and sockets (another Brownie point to Sebastian's). The staff were very helpful regards questions on places to eat, the opera etc., and breakfast was good and well presented with hot and cold dishes. The only difference between Sebastians and some of the other hotels was that there was no bathrobe or slippers. I would recommend this hotel to single travellers as one is well looked after and I hope to return so with my husband . Finally another good feature was the quality of the bath products. Lovely citrus smelling hand cream etc., A great small hotel!

“Very friendly staff”

Very accommodating if there is anything you need. They give you a map & tell you a bit about the city & show you where everything is when you check in. They also have a list of recommended restaurants, if you wish. The beds are very comfy & the hotel room is nicely decorated. The whole hotel is a modern style that is very nice. Great buffet breakfast with hot foods, cold meats & cheeses, fruit, pastry and a selection of juices etc all for 10 euros each.

“The cutest hotel in the cutest neighborhood”

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Sebastian's and it couldn't have been better. The hotel is located in a traditional house on a canal. It is very welcoming and very well decorated. The staff is the kindest and most helpful we ever had. You can't believe the hotel is only 3 stars! Everything was perfect. We had a room with a view on the canal, it was very quiet, very clean and very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the neighborhood and had the best time strolling along the canals, the best part of Amsterdam as far as we are concerned. Strongly recommended.

An oasis of peace in the middle of the city centre

Hampshire Boutique Hotel - Sebastian's is just 10 minutes’ walk from central station. Although you’re in the middle of the city centre, you’ll find an oasis of peace on Keizersgracht. Ideal for you to entirely concentrate on your business. There are also innumerable great, trendy and fine restaurants, lunch rooms and cafés within walking distance of the hotel. The employees’ personal service is fantastic - nothing is too much to ask here. There are also various extra facilities for business guests, such as free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, 24-hour reception, laundry service, own Nespresso appliance in the hotel room and cycle hire.
