The location alone makes Hampshire Boutique Hotel - Sebastian's the place to be; especially when you’re on a city trip and want to get to know Amsterdam really well. The hotel is within the canal district, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010. The Dam and the delightful Jordaan are within walking distance. Other activities include:

Art and culture
Westerkerk and Westertoren are not far from the hotel. Anne Frank Huis is close to Westerkerk. Every year, many visitors visit this historic house to see with their own eyes where Anne Frank stayed in hiding during the Second World War and wrote her world-famous diary. There are a number of fascinating places of interest on the Dam, just a few minutes walk from the hotel: Nieuwe Kerk, Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam and Nationaal Monument. At number 51 on the Amstel, there’s the annex of the famous Hermitage in Sint Petersburg: Hermitage Amsterdam. And Amsterdam Museum in the former Burgerweeshuis is very special. The museum is located between all the shops on Kalverstraat and has beautiful inner courtyards, a gallery full of schuttersstukken (paintings) and a well-stocked museum shop.

Children
A trip along the canals of Amsterdam is great to do all year round. There are lots of boat companies in the area, so you can easily step on a tour boat. But you can of course also hire a small boat or pedal boat and explore the canals yourself. TunFun is an indoor playground for children from 0 to 12 in a former car tunnel in the heart of the city. The history of shipping comes to life in children’s exhibitions in Het Scheepvaartmuseum, such as the fairy-tale underwater world of Matje & Roosje and Circus Zee for children up to 6 years.

Shopping
When it comes to shopping, there are possibilities enough. You can go to Magna Plaza shopping centre close to the Dam, to Haarlemmerstraat or Haarlemmerdijk or De 9 Straatjes, where you can find unique and original shops, lunch rooms and restaurants. Large, well-known shopping streets such as Kalverstraat, Leidsestraat and P.C. Hooftstraat are also not far from the hotel.

Markets
If you’re in Amsterdam over the weekend, the organic farmers’ market on the Noordermarkt from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. is highly recommended. You can visit the farmers’ market on Haarlemmerplein every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Every Monday, there’s the famous textile market and vintage and antique market on Westerstraat and Noordermarkt from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Although Hampshire Boutique Hotel - Sebastian’s doesn’t have its own restaurant, you can enjoy a delicious and extensive breakfast here every morning from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. And when it’s time for drinks, you can visit Sebastian’s bar in the hotel. The bar, which attracts many canal district residents as well as hotel guests, is open daily from 5:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Should you wish to to visit a convivial and good restaurant, then there’s an abundance of great addresses in the immediate vicinity.
