Overnight stay on the Western Scheldt

If you want peace as well as bustle in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, then Hampshire Hotel – Churchill Terneuzen is ideal. The hotel is in a fabulous location on the Zeedijk, on the Western Scheldt. This is the perfect starting point for a walk to the centre of Terneuzen or a tour of the Otheense Kreek. The Belgian towns of Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent are good options for a cultural day. A game of golf can be enjoyed on the 18-hole course at De Woeste Kop in Axel. Enjoy the peace, the sea and the beach

Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is a unique spot in the Netherlands. Here you will find peace, sea and beach. But there are also plenty of cultural activities, on both the Dutch and Belgian sides of the border. If you are keen to absorb some culture and do a bit of shopping, Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges guarantee a successful day. Near Hampshire Hotel – Churchill Terneuzen, you can explore Oud-Terneuzen. If you would prefer a day in the country, you van visit the nature development area in the Margarethapolder, near Terneuzen. The Forestry Commission organises various excursions here.

Cycling
The polders of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen are ideal for lovely cycle rides. A particularly lovely route is the Westerscheldefietsroute Terneuzen-Perkpolder (42 km) with gorgeous panoramic views over the Western Scheldt.

Museums 
The impressive Watersnoodmuseum in Ouwerkerk has lots of information about the Great Flood of 1953. You will also see how our country has constantly struggled to protect itself from the water. Another interesting museum about water and the sea is the Maritiem MuZEEum in Vlissingen. In this wonderful museum, you will experience the turbulent history of Zeeland and what the sea means to its residents. The Zeeuws Museum, housed in an Abbey in the heart of Middelburg, has a huge collection of historical exhibits from Zeeland.

Children
In the lovely green surroundings of Hulst , children can enjoy the Reynaertland theme park, with its indoor playground, field and indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Take the whole family skiing on the pistes of Skidôme, the ski centre of Terneuzen and surroundings. Another fun outing is to the subtropical swimming pool, Scheldorado, beside the hotel.

Entertainment
Near the hotel is the Scheldetheater. All year round, the theatre presents shows for adults and children by famous companies. Terneuzen's night life is centred on Nieuwstraat, with its friendly cafés and restaurants.

Golf
In Axel, a 15 minute drive from Terneuzen, is De Woeste Kop golf course. At this challenging 18-hole golf course, you are welcome to play a round as a guest player.
