Hampshire Hotel – de Eese is close to the well-known water village, Giethoorn, also known as the Venice of the Netherlands. The historic town, Steenwijk and National Park Weerribben-Wieden are within easy reach. More than enough choice for a fun day out. Hiring a boat and punting through the canals in Giethoorn is highly-recommended. Or step on the Water shuttle and take a boat trip. Back in the hotel, after a wonderful day out, you can enjoy drinks in the bar/lounge and dinner in the restaurant.

A Valhalla for water lovers

There is so much to enjoy at the Kop van Overijssel, in and around Steenwijk. If you enjoy greenery and water, the area surrounding Hampshire Hotel - de Eese is a Valhalla. The forests, meadows, fens, De Woldberg nature reserve and De Eese country estate are a stone’s throw away. The well-known water village Giethoorn, the Venice of the Netherlands, and National Park Weerribben-Wieden are close by. What else is there to do in the surrounding area?

Museums
How did the Giethoorners live a hundred years ago? Where did they live and what did an average working day look like? You can see and experience it in the Museum ‘t Olde maat Uus in Giethoorn. A little further down the road is Museum De Oude Aarde, with one of the most beautiful collections of minerals and fossils in our country. You can find contemporary prints and glass art in Museums Vledder in Vledder.

Steenwijk
This historic town is the tourist centre of north-west Overijssel. Stroll along city canals and walls that originate from the time of the Eighty Years’ War. Take a seat on the longest sofa in the world: the 75-metre sofa by artist Jan Krikke. And walk on towards Rams Woerthe villa with its public park.

Walking and cycling
De Woldberg nature reserve and De Eese country estate both border the hotel. In these beautiful areas, with varied forests and fens, there are all kinds of cycle and footpaths. In the National Park Drents-Friese Wold you can walk along forests, heathland, shifting sands and grassland. This is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands: as large as 12,800 football pitches.

The Hampshire Hotel – de Eese restaurant is open all day. An extensive breakfast buffet is served here for hotel guests. From early morning until late evening you can step inside for coffee, tea or cappuccino, with or without a regional delicacy. The kitchen is open from 12:00 noon for lunch, a mid-afternoon snack or dinner. The patio enclosed by the countryside landscape is particularly pleasant in good weather.

You can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in the hotel’s Brasserie, and can choose from dinner à la carte or plate service. The atmosphere in the Brasserie is relaxed and informal - a real living room feel. The hotel’s bar/lounge has flexible closing times.
