Get out on the water with a canal cruise

Hampshire Hotel - Eden Amsterdam is situated in the centre of the city of Amsterdam, on the famous Amstel river. What could be nicer than taking a trip on the Amstel? You can take a canal cruise, hire your own boat to cruise through the city or be really sporty and hire a canal bike - fantastic fun! Other activities include:

Museums
Rembrandthuis Museum on Jodenbreestraat is located in the house where Dutch Master Rembrandt van Rijn lived and worked between 1639 and 1658. A little further way you can find the Anne Frank House. Here you can experience how life must have been for the Frank family in hiding. Photography fans should certainly visit the changing exhibitions at Foam photography museum on Keizersgracht. There’s a World Press Photo exhibition in the Oude Kerk every year. Hermitage Amsterdam presents  various exhibitions from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg in Russia.

Cycling
The historic inner city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list since 2010. The best way to view the heart of the city is the Amsterdam way: by bicycle. You can hire one at the hotel.

Market
You can buy flowers, bulbs, plants and souvenirs for those back home at the floating flower market on Singel. You’ll find vintage clothing and curiosities on Waterlooplein near the Stopera.

Children
The covered TunFun play park is in a former car tunnel. Children from 0 to 12 can tire themselves out here, climbing, running, sliding and jumping. Older children can meet their heros at Madame Tussauds on the Dam. For young scientists, there’s the NEMO Science Center, with five floors full of scientific and technological things to do and discover.

the welcome was very pleasant, the Hotel rooms look beautiful and the location is next to the Rembrandtplein, a lovely place with some beautiful restrants and bars. also next to some landing stages for boats, strip mall and 20 min. to walk from the central station. I will come back for a next time. We were in an executive room and it was beatiful! the bed was comfortable and my sleep was deep :-)

“Short break in Amsterdam”

SERVICE: Having read previous comments before our stay we were both worried about the supposedly unfriendly staff, but found there was nothing to worry about. The front desk staff were friendly and informative. ROOM: The room was of a decent size and decorated pleasingly. TV has a few English channels, mainly news though we did find a couple re-runs of cooking shows. Tea and coffee wasn’t provided, but you can rent a kettle and tea and coffee supplies for 7.50 Euro for your stay. There is no fridge in the room. CLEANLINESS: The public areas of the hotel were spotless. The room was clean, however certain things were not replaced i.e. tea and coffee not stocked up after use, bin liner not replaced, shower gel not topped up. It didn’t look like our room was hoovered either. All quite small things, however these do make a difference. LOCATION AND AMENITIES: The hotel is very easy to find. After getting the train from Centraal Station we were advised by staff at the Station to buy a 24 hour tram card. We got off the tram at Rembrandtplein and the hotel was 5 minutes away. However, if you don’t have much luggage and don’t mind a 20 minute walk, save some money and don’t bother with a tram card and just walk from the station. We found that pretty much every area in Amsterdam is walkable and this is a great way to see everything. The location is the best thing about the hotel. Bars and restaurants are close by in Rembrandtplein and there are a couple of smaller shops 5 minutes away for snacks, water etc. PRO’s: The location is perfect – great location for exploring. Very comfy bed CON’s: The view from our room was pretty awful – but this didn’t bother us too much as we were out all day. Tea and coffee supplies should have been topped up daily, however this was a bit hit and miss. We had to call down to reception to get ours re-stocked. This was done promptly, however. Overpriced breakfast! 18 Euro for a buffet is too expensive – eat breakfast out and pay way less. The TV didn’t have many English channels – there is only so much news a person can watch! Would have been good to have an option to buy a film or pay to access Netflix during our stay. OVER ALL: Good hotel, fair price and excellent location - don't be put off by negative reviews. We would stay again and would recommend.

“Good location in Amsterdam”

Hotel rooms are simple but clean with very comfortable beds. What made it a 4 star experience for us was its location.....across from a canal and a two minute walk to Rembrandt Square , which is loaded with restaurants and outdoor cafés. The Flower Market is a few minutes' walk as well and shouldn't be missed plus the hotel provides a free morning shuttle to Dam Square. Hotel staff are pleasant and helpful and my only disappointment was that our room rate did not include breakfast.
