All places of interest within walking distance

Hampshire Hotel – Emmen is in a perfect location. To start with, it is easy to reach (by car and train) and there is free parking in front of the hotel. What’s more, all places of interest are within walking distance, such as the market square in the centre of Emmen and Dierenpark Emmen. The immediate surroundings, with beautiful forests and heathland, are perfect for stunning walking and cycling trips.

You can have a day out with the entire family in Veenpark open air museum or the Aquarena swimming pool with wave machine. Or you can go in search of the ten dolmens in and around Emmen. If you’d like some physical activity you can just stay in Hampshire Hotel - Emmen and use the fitness facilities in the sports centre or try a game of squash or tennis. After exercising you can enjoy a relaxing massage from the masseur or order a drink at the sports bar.

Culture
The biggest crowd puller in Emmen and surroundings is Dierenpark Emmen. The butterfly garden in this beautiful zoo is the largest in Europe. Step on a steam train or peat barge and delve into the history of the peat moor in Veenpark. And you can find ten dolmens in and around Emmen.

Theatre
De Muzeval is an intimate theatre presenting around 120 high-quality performances each season. Check the programme and purchase your ticket.

Children
In Speelbos Emmerdennen the children can climb trees, jump across ditches and build tree houses. What is also fun and close-by is Aquarena swimming pool with wave machine. A little further away, but certainly worth a visit, is Het Gevangenismuseum in Veenhuizen. Take a drive in a prison bus and see what the cells look like from the inside.

Every summer Vlindermarkten are organised in the centre of Emmen; a combination of a goods market and a flea market.
