Peace, space and relaxation

For peace, space and relaxation, at Hampshire Hotel – Newport Huizen you are at the right address. This is primarily because of the location: in the heart of the Gooi, right on the Gooimeer and close to Huizen marina. The ultimate backdrop for fanatic sailors and people who enjoy boating. So there's obviously going to be some sailing.

Walking and cycling
In the surroundings, there are many lovely routes, such as the 18 kilometre Huizen tour, the Gooilust route past estates and country homes in the Gooi and the Monument walk lasting around an hour.

Museums
Museum Singer Laren has an interesting art collection and various exhibitions. In the Nederlands Vestingmuseum in Naarden, you will learn all about the history of the fortified towns in the Netherlands, the city of Naarden and the Dutch Water Line. Oud-Zuilen is home to Slot Zuylen dating from 1520, the former residence of author Belle van Zuylen Another historic castle is Muiderslot, founded around 1285 by Floris V.

Theatre
Famous in the Gooi is Theater Spant! in Bussum. This atmospheric theatre offers a wide-ranging programme: cabaret, musicals and plays. For a film evening, you can visit Filmhuis Bussum.

Children
Fun for young and old is Coronel Kartracing in the Oude Haven of Huizen, right behind the hotel. In Speelbos ’t Laer, children aged between 4 and 14 can scramble, climb and generally have fun. For very young children, there is the petting farm, Kinderboerderij de Warande in Huizen.

Golf
There are lots of possibilities to play a round of golf in the vicinity. For example, Golfbaan Naarderbos on the Gooimeer with a challenging 18-hole Championship Course. Another option is the lovely Golfclub Almeerderhout, in its woodland setting, where you can choose from three nine-hole courses.

New: Club Newport 1852 inspired by Peter Gast

Club Newport 1852
1852 Newport Club is located directly at the harbor and Hampshire Hotel Newport in Huizen. The restaurant is inspired by Peter Gast, chief cook of a Michelin starred restaurant; Schulten Hues in Zutphen. His influence is clearly reflected in the qualitative character of the restaurant. Club Newport 1852 is the place to be for food lovers and wine lovers. The wine pairings with food that are on the card, are all suggested by Peter Gast (food expert) and the hostess Jacqueline van Liere (wine expert). “Nice location, poor rooms (definitely for a suite)”

Visited with cadeaubox (there were arrangments that were cheaper than our cadeaubox so we got An upgrade to a suite). The room was clean but looked dirty because of spots In the furniture, old carpets. Also the badroom was poor for a suite. On the other hand, entrance hall and restaurant looked fancy and it was good to hang around there. There was little variety in breakfast, but diner In club 1852 was extraordinary. Also nice location and parking facilities. We also went to a supermarket to buy water, because 5,50 euro for 75cl is a bit over the top.

“Normal, not more”

GOOD: 1. Free car parking. 2. Free wi fi internet in rooms. 3. Free PC in a lobby with internet. 4. Good view on the lake. 5. Not expensive lunch is available in the restaurant near lobby with huge portions of meals (20 euro p.p.). BAD: 1. No minibar. 2. Old furniture. 3. Small TV. 4. Far from Amsterdam, you should have a car.

“Big rooms, comfy bed, surprisingly good food but corridors noisy”

We got a good deal for a night away and I was attracted by the large room and good reviews. Check-in was easy and the room and bed were indeed large. Bathroom (shower, no bath) was roomy too. The hotel is out of town so we decided to eat in the restaurant to avoid driving and we were pleasantly surprised by dinner - not cheap but very tasty and generous portions. Our room was the first one on the corridor which meat there was a lot of passing traffic (guests going to and from their rooms) and so it was noisy. An internal door between the mini-corridor/bathroom area and the bedroom would help. Staff were fine. Breakfast was good but nothing special. The hotel's proximity to Laren, Blaricum etc is a big plus. All in all a comfortable stay.

Dear Ykemichel, Thank you for your good review on our deluxe rooms! The restaurant and the staff. We will discuss with the technical department what we can do about the noise from the corridor. Its good to hear that you have had a comfortable stay. Best regards, Nicole Lagas

“Excellent”

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in quite a number of hotels, actually this is the second time I've stayed at this hotel now. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, massive and very comfortable bed and a table and 2 chairs so you can use your laptop easily. (Free wifi) and a flat screen tv. The room also has a mini bar and a side table with complementary magazines. (in Dutch though) Breakfast is expensive in my opinion, 18 euros per person, in buffet form. (We didn't eat breakfast here this time)There's a restaurant too where you can eat lunch or dinner. The surrounding is beautiful, looking out over a lake and it's very quiet. You do need a car as it's remote from the village of Huizen. I can't wait to go back next year.

“most spacious room in North Netherlands...”

My second stay at this place. I decided to go again for the suites located on the upper floor overlooking the yacht harbour. tremendous spot, great appartment-size rooms with super soft beds flooded with cushions. If you want to spoil your lover only once a year this is the place to go. In my case I wanted to stay away from the busy lousy masterdam business hotels and reside close to Amsterdam but on the countryside. Great comfort, big parking, great and quiet spot. Super breakfast. ready to return next year...

Dear ON7WP, Thank you so much for your great review. We hope to see you sooner... In january we will open our new restaurant! Best regards, Nicole Lagas
