Peace, space and relaxation

For peace, space and relaxation, at Hampshire Hotel – Newport Huizen you are at the right address. This is primarily because of the location: in the heart of the Gooi, right on the Gooimeer and close to Huizen marina. The ultimate backdrop for fanatic sailors and people who enjoy boating. So there's obviously going to be some sailing.

Walking and cycling
In the surroundings, there are many lovely routes, such as the 18 kilometre Huizen tour, the Gooilust route past estates and country homes in the Gooi and the Monument walk lasting around an hour.

Museum Singer Laren has an interesting art collection and various exhibitions. In the Nederlands Vestingmuseum in Naarden, you will learn all about the history of the fortified towns in the Netherlands, the city of Naarden and the Dutch Water Line. Oud-Zuilen is home to Slot Zuylen dating from 1520, the former residence of author Belle van Zuylen Another historic castle is Muiderslot, founded around 1285 by Floris V.

Famous in the Gooi is Theater Spant! in Bussum. This atmospheric theatre offers a wide-ranging programme: cabaret, musicals and plays. For a film evening, you can visit Filmhuis Bussum.

Fun for young and old is Coronel Kartracing in the Oude Haven of Huizen, right behind the hotel. In Speelbos ’t Laer, children aged between 4 and 14 can scramble, climb and generally have fun. For very young children, there is the petting farm, Kinderboerderij de Warande in Huizen.

There are lots of possibilities to play a round of golf in the vicinity. For example, Golfbaan Naarderbos on the Gooimeer with a challenging 18-hole Championship Course. Another option is the lovely Golfclub Almeerderhout, in its woodland setting, where you can choose from three nine-hole courses.

“Lake view hotel ”

Located at a small yacht harbor in the center of the Netherlands. Nice view over a small lake and those boats. Town is close and highway easy to find. In the harbor it is nice to walk and it has some restaurants. In the surroundings you can walk and enjoy the lake. I didn't see public transport next to the hotel, but you can park your car for free. Hotel staff is friendly and check-in very easy. The room was complete with sitting area, table and because I had a corner room very light. I even had a view over the harbor. The bathroom is complete with a nice shower. Breakfast is ok with fresh bread and everything else to it. Interesting it is included in the roomprice, because in other hotels you have to pay 20 bucks. Downstairs they have a nice restaurant where you even can sit outside and have a look over the harbor. After only 1 dinner it's hard to comment. Till now I would give 4 stars, but I can't. It's a nice location, friendly staff and I had a nice room. Unfortunately it has a lack of maintenance. A bit. You'll notice it is a bit old and it could use some renovation. Curtains should be swapped aswell the blanket. The interior looks a bit neglected. And unfortunately not only in the room, but also around the reception. Light color is quickly dirty and you see stains. Clean it or change it. It is your business card and you should take care of it. Further to that the cleaning could be much better. It's a hotel and I expect that they clean the rooms. Value for money? All in all I do think so.

“Serene setting and spacious rooms”

This hotel boasts a delightful lakeside location overlooking the boat harbor. All of the rooms are spacious by European standards, but the suites in particular are grand with two very large rooms, a small kitchen and a balcony with lovely views. Bicycles are available for rent from the front desk, and the area is wonderful to explore by bike. Be aware though that the hotel is located at the end of a peninsula with no other restaurants or businesses within convenient walking distance.

“Nice location”

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Room is spacious. But we didn't like it that there was not one room with 2 beds. Just one, kingsize bed.The reception offert to place an extra bed for € 35,= pro night... The breakfast was poor for € 17,50 pp

“Good location but old fashioned”

We stayed in this hotel for a night. The spot is lovely ! The entrance of the hotel is amazing. However, the room decoration was old fashioned. Really ! There was an old piece of furniture in the room, there was dust under the TV table, there were stains on the bed linen and on the head bed frame . The lights on the bedside tables were old like the rest of the decoration. The bathroom was ok but I've seen much better in other 4 star hotels. The shower cabin was old. The staff was helpful (the young people were!). Otherwise, a bald man turned his back on me as I was approaching the reception desk for an information. He obviously did not want to be disturbed. He let his young colleague answer my questions. As a client, I found it rude and not professional at all. In a word, this hotel does not deserve its 4 star at all. it's just "pixie dust" with a beautiful entrance, a beautiful place, a beautiful hall but the rooms are old.

“Value with beautiful lakeside view and”

There was a great deal of amenities including a small kitchen cabinet with fridge, waterboiler and a sink; however the waterboiler looks like it has not been cleaner or used for a very long time. The carpet of the floor where we were offered room were very stuffy
