Numerous possibilities for a great day out in Amsterdam.

Location, location, location. No problems in that respect at Hampshire Hotel - Rembrandt Square. Near the hotel, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a day out in Amsterdam: museums, exhibitions, historic sites, theatres and kids activities. A few suggestions:

Theatre and film
Anyone who loves art and cabaret will study the programme of De Kleine Komedie, the oldest theatre in Amsterdam (1786). Koninklijk Theater Carré is certainly worth a visit, if only to view the interior of this beautiful theatre. Pathé Tuschinski cinema is another lovely historic building. All the big blockbusters can be viewed here on the big screen.

The Hermitage Amsterdam presents various exhibitions from the collection from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg in Russia. Museum Het Rembrandthuis on Jodenbreestraat is located in the house where Rembrandt van Rijn lived and worked between 1639 and 1658. You will regularly find interesting exhibitions in De Nieuwe Kerk on the Dam. Fans of photography should certainly visit the FOAM Photography Museum on the Keizersgracht.

You can buy flowers, bulbs, plants and souvenirs on the floating flower market on Singel. There is a famous flea market on Waterlooplein near the Stopera.

Sailing through the canals is fun for young and old alike. Step onto a tour boat, rent a boat or take the whole family on a pedalo. Young scientists make exciting discoveries at the Science Centre NEMO. A visit to the fantastic Artis zoo is a joy for everyone. One of the highlights of the oldest zoo in the Netherlands are the tropical fish in the huge Aquarium.

“Great stay”

Stayed with my girlfriend in July , great service and the room was very clean. Bed was also very comfy. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking to come back soon! Near all the bars and cafes and only a 15 min walk from dam square and the RLD. The only negative I can really think of is the minibar didn't have enough room to put a bottle of water in for the morning hangover haha, but we just filled the ice bucket and used that instead.

“Vacation ”

This is hotel is also connected to another hotel is called Eden. I wanna mention that this company nothing but a hustler. When we booked it by booking. Com, we booked at a hotel Hampshire and it was 4 star hotel, when we got there they put us in Eden which was 3 star hotel without mentioning that. The room was a piece of crap, and awful. Very tiny room and everything was small, unmainained room. Be careful guys, when u step there, check the room first and make sure that you are at the right hotel.

“Good Value for a Short Stay”

We arrived in Amsterdam a few days before embarking on a Rihine River cruise. We took a taxi from the airport to Rembrandt Square where we attempted to locate the hotel. After roaming the square for more than 30 minutes looking for the name of this hotel, we learned that the entrance was on another street. Once we found the entrance with a shared lobby with the Hotel Eden which we passed a number of times while roaming the square originally, we registered and went to our room. The online advertisement for this hotel should indicate both hotel names. As we were only be staying two nights, these accommodations were adequate for our purposes. The room had two standard beds, decent closet space, and a clean bathroom. WiFi was included at no charge and the location was on a tram line going directly to Central Station. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but there is no pool. The venue is family and traveler friendly. There were tour groups checking in and out of the hotel while we were there. All in all, the hotel met our needs. We were able to move about the city with ease using the transportation pass we purchased on board a tram. We were able to tour the city by bus, take a canal ride, and have entry into a featured museum. All of this was done effortlessly in following the the timely tram schedule. All of our two day destinations were a relatively short tram ride from the hotel. When traveling on a budget, I would urge you to consider the Hampshire Hotel Rembrandt Square. The hotel is a good value and you are located in a cafe friendly area filled with people late into the evening. It is a traveler's Mecca.

“Pleasant stay. Friendly people. Good location”

Stayed here for a night for business. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport via the train/metro (Google Maps was really helpful for public transport!) The hotel itself was nice - clean and quiet. There was no view from the room, and the room seemed dimly lit (We had an executive room ) Best thing about the hotel is the location. Close to lots of good restaurant and bars, and the canal for a walk

“Dissapointing and not 4 star”

The reception area is in need of repair and upgrading, as paint is flaking off the walls in places. The corridor leading to our room was dim with stale air as no air con was used. Inside the bathroom we had mold growing up the sealant in the corner of the shower. The bedroom carpet had four large stains and coffee stains adorned the walls near the exit door. We found 1 clothes hanger between two wardrobes! The staff do not engage much with guests and a charge of €18.5 for a poor breakfast was 3 times more than it was worth. A much better breakfast can be found 3 doors down the street for €6. This is supposed to be a 4 star standard, but should be reclassified as 2/3 star. It is in a good location to see sights and get around the city center.
