Heritage and history
There’s a permanent exposition in the attic of Museumboerderij Erve Brooks Niehof: Border country inside out. In the Kristalmuseum in Borculo you can discover the history of the earth. There’s culture and history in Diepenheim town, with castles, a church from 1679 and a water mill from the twelfth century. Various castles in the area have opened their gardens to the public and various country estates are also open to the public.

Golf
Golf en Countryclub De Graafschap has one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf courses in the Netherlands. The club is just 4 kilometres from the hotel. Somewhat further away is Golfclub ‘t Lohr in Voorst, with an extremely accessible, beautifully-situated 18-hole golf course.

Children
Get lost in De Doolhof van Ruurlo, a maze created around 1891 and entirely restored in 1984. As far as surface area is concerned, this is the largest maze in the Netherlands. For indoor, outdoor, water and golfing fun for the whole family you can visit Mega Pret, just outside Lievelde. The largest amusement park in the Achterhoek is in Braamt and is called Het Land van Jan Klaassen. For the younger children, there is Kinderboerderij Dondertman in Lochem.

Events
To enjoy the Achterhoek atmosphere to the full you shouldn’t miss Mecha Tractor Pulling Lochem, the event of the year for real men and women. Of a completely different order is Nationale Jammarkt in Neede, where every year, true to tradition, a new jam Queen is crowned.

This is the address for a high-quality culinary evening from Head Chef Wim Holmer and his team. The evening starts with an aperitif by the open fire. At your table, you can then enjoy various culinary creations. Creations that often have an Achterhoek twist because the kitchen works with traditional local produce as much as possible. And there is advice on which wines to choose to accompany each dish.
Here is a small selection of what’s on the menu: lasagne with layers of smoked fish and a fried quail’s egg; bavarois of farmer’s goat’s cheese on a nut salad with honey dressing, Twente farmer’s ham with Galia melon and roasted pine nuts; poached cod with anchovy fillet and an orange butter sauce; home-made Hof van Gelre hamburger with truffle jus and French fries, served with home-made mayonnaise.
