Trendy hotel with luxury rooms and trendy lounge bar

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.

Enoteca’s terrace is a great place. You can enjoy sitting in the sun with a perfect view and delicious drinks and snacks on the table. Feel like doing something? You can take a walk in Oosterpark, go to the Dappermarkt or hire a bicycle to visit a museum in the area. Hermitage Amsterdam, Science Center NEMO, Tropenmuseum and the Joods Historisch Museum are all close by. As is the biggest attraction of Amsterdam-Oost: Artis Zoo.

In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

“Very nice room and perfect service”

Large junior suite is really nice, large bathroom, bed is comfortable. Resto Enotica is really good for dinner inside the hotel. Réception desk is dedicated to customer satisfaction. We will go back, it's sure.

“Amazing hotel!”

I've done a lot of travelling over the last few months around Europe. This has been my favorite hotel so far. First, the room. It's a beautiful room with a picture on the wall showing a landmark in Amsterdam. I peeked into other rooms and saw each one is different. The bed is extremely comfortable. Mini fridge is empty so you can fill it with your own items or request items from the hotel. The window actually opens so you get a nice breeze. The view of the courtyard is very pretty as well. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel. It brings you into the city center within 20 minutes. There is a coffee shop right next door if that is a deciding factor for you. The hotel restaurant, Enoteca, has great italian food. The staff is so friendly and it is never too crowded. I have no complaints about the hotel. During a nasty storm, they lost power but it came back very quickly and they were extremely apologetic.

The hotel itself is beautiful. It's location is good just a short tran to the centre and there is a small town just round the corner. 1. Bad concierge, helped us with our plug but after that completely ignored us. Not a greet or a goodbye, felt like he looked down his nose at us. 2. Unhelpful at reception desk when asked for an adaptor ( says in the book they supply you one) was cleaned to a very poor standard we weren't even sure that the sheet had been changed. No toiletries where there on arrival nor left after room cleaned. 4. The room itself was nice. But you can hear everything. Bad sleep for pretty much all of my 4 night stay. We were on the second floor so I guess they have squeezed lots if rooms above with I'd say no isolation whatsoever . I would not stay here again, all in all pretty disappointed The only good thing was a comfy bed although it was 2 singles pushed together amd easy transport to amsterdam central. 4.5

“Nice modern hotel shame about the pillows.”

Nice location very handy for the trams to the town centre. As a single traveller the room they gave me was very small just enough space to walk around the bed. I enjoy a single pillow at night unfortunately all they can offer were double sized, when I asked reception to send up a smaller pillow the next night I ended up with twice the amount of double pillows. generally a nice hotel.

“Quiet comfort...”

Our recent stay at The Manor did not disappoint. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. Proximity to the tram, sprinter train, and bus was ideal. The bed was really comfy and the room was spacious and very clean. Perfect if you have plans to enjoy touring the city and being pretty close to the ziggo dome. While we did not avail ourselves of the restaurant in the hotel, it looked inviting if we would have been in the mood for Italian cuisine.
