Trendy hotel with luxury rooms and trendy lounge bar

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.

Enoteca’s terrace is a great place. You can enjoy sitting in the sun with a perfect view and delicious drinks and snacks on the table. Feel like doing something? You can take a walk in Oosterpark, go to the Dappermarkt or hire a bicycle to visit a museum in the area. Hermitage Amsterdam, Science Center NEMO, Tropenmuseum and the Joods Historisch Museum are all close by. As is the biggest attraction of Amsterdam-Oost: Artis Zoo.

In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

Markets
The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Children
Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

Zoo
All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

“Great hotel”

This hotel has been great! Stayed 3 nights, and very much enjoyed the experience. The restaurant breakfast is great with well rounded options and lots to pick from. The staff is very accommodating, and the manager is a pleasant and charming man. The rooms have AC which is always a must for me, so that was great to see as well

“Amazing”

Stayed in a garden view room, it was perfect. Beautiful Room. Only downfall is don't order room service, we wanted breakfast to the room and wasn't worth the money and wasn't pleasant at all. Although eating the restaurant was perfect. So easy with the tram, takes less then 10 minutes, paid 12 euros for a 48 hours and got everywhere we wanted, also rented bikes(from the hotel), was a perfect weekend.

“Great weekend break”

A great find on last minute, a short way out of the city centre but well served by public transport. Tram and bus stop just outside and mainline trains 5 mins walk, or join the masses and hire a bike. Free wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, decor is fresh and modern and staff very helpful and friendly solving any problem asap couldn't be more accommodating.

“A weekend away...”

Myself and my girlfriend checked into the Manor Hotel recently, having not been to Amsterdam before, nor stayed in a nice hotel. We were amazed by the Manor hotel! The staff were very attentive and friendly, and offered to store our luggage for us as we arrived at 8.30am when check in began at 3.00pm. They were more than helpful when giving directions, they offered us a map and advice on where to go and where to get the trams. The number 9 tram runs from outside the hotel and runs straight to the central station, there are many stops along the route for days out, e.g. the zoo or Dam square for dinner. We were celebrating an anniversary and the hotel were exceptional at giving us a beautiful room with a balcony upon request over email. We were in room 112 on the first floor, and it overlooked the neighbouring streets. The cleanliness of the room was impeccable and could not be faulted at all. We had fresh towels when we left ours on the floor, the bed was made every morning. We weren't sure whether we were to be charged for drinking the tea or not, but we were not. The 50 euro deposit was slightly annoying, but is understandable with the offer of room service etc. The TV had a variety of stations which included BBC1, BBC 2 and MTV, if you were spending the afternoon in, then this was fantastic! We hadn't tried the restaurant however it always looked busy and the menu looked good. We also didn't try the breakfast on offer, however it sounded tasty, with a variety of bread, croissants, jams and cheeses. The location was excellent, the tram stopped right outside, bikes were available for hire also. The journey into the city took around 10 minutes to be directly in the centre, the walk backwards along the tram route took around 40 minutes, and was nice to take some scenic photos. The zoo was only a quick tram journey away and was definitely worth going to, having been to London Zoo, this was something completely different! (There were no fences between some of the animals, only water to stop them from getting at you... very surreal!) Overall the Manor Hotel offered everything that we could have asked for, and it is simply a fantastic hotel which should be fully booked!
