Trendy hotel with luxury rooms and trendy lounge bar

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.

Enoteca’s terrace is a great place. You can enjoy sitting in the sun with a perfect view and delicious drinks and snacks on the table. Feel like doing something? You can take a walk in Oosterpark, go to the Dappermarkt or hire a bicycle to visit a museum in the area. Hermitage Amsterdam, Science Center NEMO, Tropenmuseum and the Joods Historisch Museum are all close by. As is the biggest attraction of Amsterdam-Oost: Artis Zoo.

In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

Markets
The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Children
Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

Zoo
All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

“perfect hotel for a city break”

We booked The Manor Amsterdam online and we were not disappointed. It was clean and well presented in the lobby and public spaces, funky colour schemes and decor throughout. The staff were polite and helpful whenever we had questions about local attractions and transport. The rooms were modern, clean and nicely decorated. The location was perfect, with an easy 15min ride on the no 9 tram from central station, which was far enough out of the main busy area to ensure an undisturbed nights sleep but near enough for all the major attractions. We didn't use the restaurant or bar but it looked very nice when we passed through. I would recommend The Manor and would definitely book again if I return to Amsterdam.

“Nice and clean hotel in a nice location”

The hotel was really clean and the staff very friendly. As many reviews have mentioned; the bathroom has a glass door (no lock) and the shower has no door! But it is not a big problem just a bit odd. The breakfast was not included for my stay however it cost around 15€ for all you can eat.

“Great Hotel, I highly recommend”

After staying in many hotels in Amsterdam, I really enjoyed the stay at the Hampshire Hotel. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The staff was extremely friendly except for one morning concierge guy but one bad seed definitely did not ruin it for the rest of the staff. The night concierge guy with glasses was awesome, all the front desk agents were extremely polite and helpful. Oh, and did I mention, they have a great sense of humor? Thanks again Dasha for saving us twice. The food was great and also, it wasn't too long a Metro ride to Dam Square at less than 10-15min. The sights along the way are tremendous. Again, the rooms are spectacular and very clean. I know I am repeating myself when I say that but it is true. Enjoy your stay!

“Overbooked”

I arrived on the first night quite late in the evening at the Manor Amsterdam, but was informed that the hotel was fully booked up due to an oversight of their staff. I was then transferred to one of their sister hotels centrally and the reception staff told me that I would be upgraded. I came back the next evening transport as arranged by the hotel, but nothing else was said to me about the upgrade. I was very satisfied with my room, but didn't think that it was an upgrade of any sort. It was when the day I was due to check out that the reception staff told me that I had another night booked with them, which I was made aware of and also couldn't possibly stay as I was due to fly out that afternoon! Apart from the poor communication and the inconvenience of the first night, the hotel is comfortable and clean.

“Good Hotel, located in a different type of neighborhood in Amsterdam”

So the hotel overall, was good, good service, decent food in-house, spacious rooms and very welcoming. Also it is close enough a tram (number 9) to take you the more busy parts of Amsterdam, or a 15-20 minute walk from this part of Amsterdam as well, it offers relative peace and quite as compared to the more busy part of the city. Overall, good stay, would go back again.
