A trip back to Roman times

Hampshire Landgoedhotel - Holthurnsche Hof is in the middle of Rijk van Nijmegen, one of the Netherland’s greenest regions. The area’s rich history goes way back to Roman times, which can be seen from the countless monuments. And the countryside is breathtaking. On one hand there’s the riverside scenery between the Maas and Waal rivers in the Ooijpolder and Duffelt nature reserves. On the other, the hills and dales concealing Beek-Ubbergen, Berg en Dal, Groesbeek and Mook.

Walking
Try at least one of the eleven walks in the Ooijpolder and Duffelt nature reserves, past curious cows, castles and old windmills. There’s also great walking and cycling through the riparian area and grasslands in the Millingerwaard nature reserve in the heart of the Gelderse Poort, with the Millinger Theetuin making an excellent stop for high-tea or lunch.

Museums
Discover the riches of African art and culture in the Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal. The past comes to life in the National Liberation Museum 1994-1945. Experience the run-up to the war and the occupation and celebrate the liberation.

Children
A day in the Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen is a true adventure. Walk along with Bamboo Bill or one of the other park adventurers and get to know everything about the animals. Tivoli Amusement Park is a theme park in Berg en Dal with around twenty attractions. Take a trip on the roller coaster, get the creeps in the haunted house, or take a spin on the carousel.

Golfing
