Unique shops, fantastic places to eat and drink and interesting museums, including the Van Abbemuseum and the DAF museum. And now that you’ve started to discover the city, we highly recommend Strijp-S, Eindhoven’s creative and cultural heart.

Your sleeping comfort is also guaranteed, with a choice of different pillows for the best possible night's sleep. And then there’s our breakfast buffet with “delicious croissants and great coffee”. Art, Culture & Shopping

The Philips Stadium is just 650 metres away from Holiday Inn Eindhoven. As well as being the home base of PSV football club, the stadium also stages some great events such as the annual summer concert of singer Guus Meeuwis. And if you want to spend the weekend shopping or going out with friends, it is the place to be The City of Light also has plenty to offer if you are interested in culture. A summary:

Culture

Strijp S is the creative and cultural heart of Eindhoven. If you are visiting Eindhoven and you like art, culture and music, we highly recommend a visit to this former Philips site. DAF is yet another leading international company with its roots in Eindhoven. The entire industrial legacy of this car manufacturer is on display in the DAF Museum. One of the most innovative museums for European contemporary art is located at Bilderdijklaan 10 in Eindhoven and is called Van Abbemuseum.

Walking

Genneper Parken, located roughly 4.5 kilometres from the hotel, has a variety of interesting walking routes (free map available from Tourist Office). The Stadswandelpark, south of the city centre, is also a much-loved area for scenic walks, with alternating natural surroundings and a beautiful sculpture garden.

Shopping

Eindhoven is home to not one but several great shopping areas. Number 1 on the list is De Bergen, an area made up of Kleine Berg, Grote Berg and Bergstraat. Kerkstraat, with its cafés, restaurants and special shops, and Willemstraat, with its great selection of art galleries, are also not to be missed.

Children

Are you a PSV fan? Then you mustn’t miss the PSV Stadium Tour. Discover the best places in the Philips Stadium and the PSV Museum and find out how it feels to play in a great football stadium. Europe’s largest water park is located in Genneper Parken and is called De Tongelreep. And if it’s not raining, a trip to Familiepark DippieDoe in Best is a great day out for the whole family (for children up to the age of 13). Older children can have their fun in Skatepark Area51, one of the largest skate parks in Europe.

Events

Now an established tradition: the ‘Groots met een zachte G’ concerts of Guus Meeuwis in the Philips Stadium in June every year. Other annual events to look out for: Dutch Design Week, STRP and Glow. Contemporary festivals on the cutting edge of technology, art, design and music.

“Ruud from the restaurant - thank you!”

I have lost the count how many times I have been in this hotel for business but always wanted to take my family with me and finally have managed to bring them for the long weekend. They loved my favourite room at the top executive floor with all surprise amenities (never underestimate HI) but the highlight was as usual FLO restaurant and its supervisor Ruud with whom I have formed friendly relationship over the years. He has remembered which wine I had with my meal months ago and also perfectly matched one to my husband taste. Our local friends who joined us for this dinner were equally impressed. The lobster and mussels were cooked to perfection and desert was mouth watering. The coffee is served with home made chocolate and biscuits. I always go for Ruud recommendation and was never disappointed. He is such a credit to this restaurant and I simply have no words to describe how professional and hospitable he is. I have been dining in many countries and places and have never come across anyone quite like him. As per HI rules kids eat free from kids menu and extra bed is also free of charge. The room was as usual very clean and everything worked perfectly. I would say that the pressure in the shower is much too low though. I opted out of breakfast as these are average. The rooms are undergoing renovations so I was happy we have left on Mon. as the stay would not be that peaceful going forward. We have used the swimming pool and it was adequate. There is only one changing/ shower area though - not separate for ladies and gents so change in your room if you are not comfortable. There are cushioned loungers to rest on. The facility is rather basic but you will have proper swim. Check in was handled by trainee who was quite unpleasant and could not find my reservation as well did not welcome me as gold member. I had to ask someone else later for my drink voucher. Check out was performed professionally by the brunette gentlemen, I was asked how my stay was and the bill was accurate. My family expressed the desire to return.

“Good location and size of the room but...”

Positive things: Size of the room and bathroom, located walking distance from the center, quick and free wifi. Nice pool. Breakfast is ok. Negative things: hotel has some construction happening so was really noisy during the day. Also the housekeeping is not very good: they would clean the room and leave the dirty cups from the tea untouched. I did complained about that, asked for new cups and they said that is not role of the housekeeping but someone else who never came in 4 days of stay. I had to wash them myself or go to the bar with the dirty ones and ask for clean ones. This never happened with me before and I find it a bit ridiculous.
Owner Response of Holiday Inn Eindhoven
Dear AnnaDias1, thank you for your review. My sincere apologies for the construction noise that occured during your stay. We try to avoid this as much as possible but renovating our bathrooms comes with some nuisance. Your remark about our housekeeping is truly unacceptable and I will discuss this with the company that does our housekeeping. I hope to welcome you again soon! Kind regards, Chris Driessen

“Lots of hidden charges”

If you go there and business trip keep in mind that city taxes will be charged on site. It can't be prepaid. The parking charges are per night and it doesn't matter if you used it or not. In the end you might get a pretty larger bill for things you haven't used.
Owner Response of Holiday Inn Eindhoven
Dear Kalin S, Thank you very much for your review. The parking costs are indeed per night, off course you do not have to pay the costs if the car is not on the parking at all. Otherwise you pay €14,50 per night. Regarding the citytax, I would like to inform you that this is usually mentioned in your booking confirmatin, depending on the site you made the booking on. Citytax is a tax payable to the city council, and hotels do not have any influence on this. Again thank you very much for your feedback and we hope to welcome you again in the near future! Kind regards,

“Good hotel, slightly rough at the edges”

Location: excellent, just five minutes' walk from Eindhoven station and direct bus routes 400 and 401 to Eindhoven airport. Yes, there are busy roads but you don't hear the road noise so much with the window closed (alternatively, ask for a room at the back of the hotel). Rooms: okay, we stayed in room 417. I won't comment on the dated bathroom as they're refurbishing them. The room itself was huge and well equipped. The tea-making facilities and ironing board were particularly welcome. The air conditioning did work, but was completely ineffective at cooling the room, which meant it was hard to sleep. We mentioned this to reception and they sent a repairman but apparently it was "working as it should". I felt the receptionist was quite condescending to us about this, suggesting we were stupid for complaining about it. I therefore recommend you avoid room numbers ending -17, -18 and -19 as they bear the full brunt of the sun on hot days. Housekeeping: hit and miss. On some days, they just left the dirty mugs in the room. They replaced all the towels despite the sign saying they wouldn't if you hung them up. Some of the towels were filthy and stained. Wi-Fi: free and reasonably fast (about 7 Mb/s). Staff: apart from the receptionist mentioned above, the staff were all extremely friendly and had a good sense of humour. Pool: the pool size was good but the pool area is very badly thought-out. There are two extremely small unisex changing rooms in which you can hardly move and one shower and toilet. You have to walk through the wet pool area to get to them. The lockers do not lock. Furthermore, there were some loose coverings on the pool floor. Breakfast: excellent variety although the quality of the fruit salad did vary depending on which day it was. There were cold cuts, bacon, eggs, potatoes and everything else you'd expect. We had breakfast included in the room rate; I probably wouldn't pay the €24 if it weren't included. Overall, a reasonable hotel in a great location, despite being a bit rough at the edges.
Owner Response of Holiday Inn Eindhoven
Dear Kingky, Let me start by thanking your for your recent stay at Holiday Inn Eindhoven and for you taking the time to give us your feedback about your stay in our hotel. Your comments are very important to us. I am very sorry to notice that your stay in our hotel was not to your liking due to a problem with our air conditioning. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused AND for the lack of service at the reception desk and maintenance department. I have forwarded your feedback to our Front Office & Maintenance manager and they will discuss your comments with the receptionists en repairman in unmistakable terms and the airconditioning will be checked again in room 417 to prevent this from happening again in the future. I will also forward your remark about the towels to our Housekeeping Manager, these should be fluffy and white and not the way you describe them. Unfortunately I cannot change your recent experience in our hotel anymore but please know that I take your remarks very seriously. I know you have many choices when it comes to lodging and I do hope you will allow us to be of service to you again on some future occasion. Thank you again for your feedback. With kind regards from Eindhoven,
