Unique and luxury country estate

When you go over the moat and through the castle entrance to the inner courtyard of Landgoed Kasteel Daelenbroeck – Hampshire Classic, you step back in time by a few centuries. You’ll maybe not see a knight on a horse, but the courtyard is, just as it used to be, the beating heart of the castle. This is where the terrace is laid out and where all buildings lead to: the Hoofdburcht, Voorburcht and the Kasteelhoeve.

Landgoed Kasteel Daelenbroeck – Hampshire Classic is located on the edge of Herkenbosch village on a unique fourteenth century country estate. It is just a few kilometres from Roermond, close to the beautiful Nationaal Park De Meinweg. You can just cycle or walk straight into the countryside from the country estate. The hotel has many beautiful, large rooms and is therefore very suitable for meetings, parties, weddings and other events.

Versatile surroundings in Central Limburg

From here in Central Limburg, close to the city of Roermond, you can go in every direction. There are many great cities and places of interest in the area, or you can cross the border into Germany and Belgium for events or a day’s shopping. A few tips:

Art and culture
The white town of Thorn is unique in the Netherlands. The partly noble history of this much-visited town goes back to the tenth century. You can discover why everything in Thorn is white in the Gemeentemuseum Het Land van Thorn. Walled city Stevensweert is on an island between two branches of the Maas. In the Streekmuseum Stevensweert/Ohé en Laak you can relive the history of this beautiful city, founded by the Spanish in 1633. Just over the Belgian border, there’s the tourist town of Maaseik, where there’s lots happening, as they say themselves. For example, you can visit Musea Maaseik on Lekkerstraat with the Regionaal Archeologisch Museum, the Apotheekmuseum, the Ontdekkingskamer and Kerkschatten van Sint-Catharina, all under one roof.

In Huifkarhoeve in Vlodrop there’s Gitstap playground with rides for older and younger children. They can play indoors and outdoors throughout the year at children’s play village Pee Wee in Posterholt. For very young children there is a petting farm. De IJzeren Man swimming pool in Weert also has a wave machine.

Düsseldorf, just over the German border, is the perfect shopping city. Christmas markets give the city a unique atmosphere during the festive season. There’s also great shopping at Designer Outlet Roermond, the largest outlet in the Benelux.

At Burggolf Herkenbosch you feel as though you’re abroad. The fantastic 18-hole golf course with its un-Dutch undulating landscape is in the middle of the forest next to the Nationaal Park De Meinweg.

Solo travel
“Lovely hotel”

Coming from the region I've known Kasteel Daelenbroeck all my live, but this was actually the first time I stayed overnight. Apart from the bridal suite and tower suite most hotel rooms are located in the homestead opposite the castle. Instead of carrying the suitcases all the way to reception and back, next time I'll leave them in the car, the homestead is next to the parking. My room was beautifully adorned, classic style, gorgeous colors and a large bathroom with separate bath and shower. The bed was comfortable, but travelling solo king bedding would have been appreciated. I asked reception desk to arrange that, but apparently that was not possible. Unfortunately staff had neglected to turn on the heating in my room, as well as the floor-heating in the bathroom, and with slippers missing as an amenity the room and floors were very cold when I arrived at 8pm. These however are all little issues that can easily be solved by proper training of the staff, who are friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate staying here again, location is beautiful, as are the rooms and prices are very reasonable for what is being offered.

“too bad we had so little time here!”

We slept in a 'Hoeve' room, it was fabulous there. But since we were at a wedding and had to check out before 11 it felt like such a short time. I bet we'll return to make the most of our time here. The bride enjoyed the bridal suite very much, they got all kinds of extra yummie snacks at night and a breakfast in bed.

“Super and with a bongo bon!”

Like one of the previous reviewers we also had a high end bongo bon. Stay in a suite with a 5 course dinner and wine included. Oure experience was totally different then the one we read before. In fact we hessitated a bit to decide due to that review. They gave us a sauna suite in the tower, a truly magnificent room. One very small remark: it would be nice if they supplied aromas for the sauna. Inside the sauna there was a card telling what aroma to use for what. Useless if there are no aromas present. In the evening we got our 5 course dinner with the appropriate wines. We got 4 different wines. Off course these were not the "great wines" but they matched the food and we enjoyed it a lot. The food was very good and they waiting time between the courses was just right. In the morning we had breakfast and this was also very good. Enough choice and eggs and bacon were warm. For sure we will go back in the summer.

“Nice relaxing atmosphere”

Nice castle in romantic location, very quiet and relaxing. We slept in a room facing the horse stable. Breakfast very good. Bring with you the right shoes for a walk in the near national park. Roermond is the closest village, very expensive car parking, we suggest you to park at the close outlet parking (3 euro all day instead of 0.50 per 13 minutes).

“Superb place to stay”

We were four couples for a double overnight stay and enjoyed every minute of it, thanks to the splendid location of the caslte hotel and the very friendly staff. The rooms are in a separate building. During our last night supper, one of our ladies got sick and was immediatly taken care of by the staff (Bedankt, Wilbert!). Castle Daelenbroeck (Herkenbosch) is in the Netherlands and yet within ten minutes of Germany. Shoppers will appreciate the great outlet store in Roermond, 10 km away.
