Golf lovers are in the ideal place at Landhotel Legemeer – Hampshire Classic They can walk straight from the hotel on to the 18-hole golf course of Burggolf St. Nicolaasga. Fanatic walkers and cyclists can also enjoy themselves. Near the hotel, there are lots of lovely routes along lakes, villages and through beautiful landscapes.

Museums
Together, nine buildings and a large garden form Museum Joure. This museum provides a glimpse into the workplace of old craftsmen, such as that of the clockmaker and goldsmith. The Fries Scheepvaartmuseum, in the middle of Sneek, tells you all about Frisian shipbuilding and shipping In the Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum, you are introduced to the work of the Frisian artist and rag merchant of the same name.

Walking and cycling
In Friesland, there are four large national parks where you can enjoy the delights of nature. National Park De Alde Feanen with its many lakes and marshlands is a must. Birdwatchers might spot a bluethroat or western marsh harrier here. Forest lovers will enjoy the Nationaal Park Drents-Friese Wold.

By water 
Ride the waves or the clouds in Friesland: in a boat on the Frisian lakes or in a hot air balloon. Famous routes over the water are the Turfroute, Middelseeroute and the Woudaaproute.

Children
In Speelbos Joure, children can play, ride climb and slide. In Sanjesfertier park in Zwaagwesteinde, there's something for any age: bouncy castle, climbing castle, sand pit, crazy golf, traffic park and a petting farm. The whole family can skate on the famous ice at Thjalf in Heerenveen.

Events
For the biggest sailing event in the Netherlands, you must be in Sneek in the first week of August. That's when it's Sneek Week. The annual Skûtsjesilen on the Frisian lakes is another fun recurring event.
