There is more than enough to see and do to fill an entire weekend in the immediate vicinity of The Toren - Hampshire Classic. Museums
Anne Frank Huis is literally around the corner from the hotel. If you have never been in the Achterhuis, the place where Anne Frank wrote her diary during the Second World War, then this is the ultimate opportunity. Tassenmuseum Hendrikje on Herengracht is the largest bag museum in the world and has an impressive collection of more than four thousand bags, purses, cases and pouches.

Places of interest
Westerkerk with the world-famous Westertoren is very close to the hotel. You can go in all directions on the Dam for fascinating places of interest. There’s the Nationaal Monument where the Queen lays a wreath every four years on 4 May during the Nationale Dodenherdenking. Here too is De Nieuwe Kerk with its interesting exhibitions and Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam, the official reception palace of the Koninklijk Huis. You’ll find Felix Meritis on Keizersgracht. Apart from being a beautiful, historic building, you can join various lectures, debates, demonstrations and workshops here.

Shopping
De 9 Straatjes really shouldn’t be missed. In these nine small streets there are unique, beautiful shops and you can also enjoy delicious lunch and dinner here. Other great places for shopping in the area are Magna Plaza shopping centre and De Bijenkorf on the Dam.

Children
Towards Central Station on Oosterdok, you’ll find Science Center Nemo. This interactive museum is great for children who like science and who dare to conduct exciting experiments. In Madame Tussauds on the Dam, you can view celebrities from close quarters and even pose for a photograph with some of the stars.
