Trendy hotel with luxury rooms and trendy lounge bar

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.

Enoteca’s terrace is a great place. You can enjoy sitting in the sun with a perfect view and delicious drinks and snacks on the table. Feel like doing something? You can take a walk in Oosterpark, go to the Dappermarkt or hire a bicycle to visit a museum in the area. Hermitage Amsterdam, Science Center NEMO, Tropenmuseum and the Joods Historisch Museum are all close by. As is the biggest attraction of Amsterdam-Oost: Artis Zoo.

In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

“Amsterdam Half Marathon trip”

Great room in a lovely hotel, only problem was location was a bit far from Dam Square and Rembrandt Square but no complaints at all about hotel. €2.50 was a bit excessive for a 330ml bottle of water at reception

“Highly recommended ”

We stayed here for a 3 night weekend city break and can highly recommend this lovely hotel. The hotel is situated in an up-and-coming area, easy to get to from central station by tram and with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Our room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The staff were very helpful, including the concierge who was able to get tickets for the canal cruise and print them off for us. We hired bicycles from the hotel, at very reasonable rates, and had a great time exploring the city. Would definitely stay here again.

“Stunning hotel, in new trendy part of Amsterdam ”

The Hampshire manor hotel, was a fantastic base to get away from the thrills and busy Amsterdam city centre. Awesome little bars that are open to 3am at the weekends, and don't forget only ten minutes away from the windmill brewery, you must try the dubbelbock. The hotel rooms were lovely inside and very modern. Decor was amazing. One tip: ask to see the robot - you will not be disappointed.

“Lovely Hotel with great access to transport!”

Just back from a 3 night stay at The Hampshire Hotel and I couldn't recommend it more. It is a beautiful hotel that is comfortable, clean and cosy - everything you could want for a stay in a busy city! The rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. Transport - excellent We got a train straight from the airport and the Hotel is one train stop after Central (4 stops in total, 28 minutes from airport to stop) then a 3-5 minute walk down a beautiful residential street until you are at the door of the hotel. There is a tram stop opposite the front door and the number 9 tram takes you everywhere you could want to go including central (9 minutes on tram). The night bus that runs after midnight (I think no. 51 or 52 from Central) drops you straight to the door! Staff were very friendly and we even got a voucher each for complimentary drinks at the bar too! One fault would be that they only supplied one bottle of water in the room for the entire trip and it does get very warm at night, so don't forget to stop at the shop (right across the road) and stock up on bottled water. You can also purchase alcohol and snacks here at a reasonable price which was great for 'pre-drinks' in the room while getting ready! Would definitely recommend - beautiful neighbourhood and easily accessed through regular transport.

“Good hotel in a great location”

Overall the hotel was really nice. Friendly staff and lovely rooms. We arrived much earlier than our check in time, but the staff were great and stored our luggage and allowed us to do a pre check-in so that when we arrived back later all we needed to do was collect our room keys. We had a room facing a courtyard at the back of the hotel, and it was very quiet with no roadside noise or disturbance. The hotel is in fantastic location, with Trams to every destination within a few minutes walk. You can also walk into the old town in about 25 minutes. There are lots of bars and restaurants very nearby. I found the breakfast to be very expensive for what was on offer as it was €15 per person for a simple buffet.
