In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

Italian dishes with a twist

Restaurant Enoteca
For true Italian enjoyment you can visit our restaurant, Enoteca. The Head Chef makes the most delicious fresh pastas, antipasto misto and traditional fish and meat dishes with a little twist. The menu is offered digitally (tablet) or traditionally (menu). There are no fewer than 25 Italian wines to order by the glass from the wine menu. Breakfast is also served in Enoteca, With a wide choice of fresh dishes and a perfect cappuccino or latte macchiato.

Website Enoteca Amsterdam

You can visit the Loungebar throughout the day for coffee or tea. In the evenings you can order wines and cocktails.

“Beautiful hotel and lovely staff!”

I booked a surprise mini break to Amsterdam for my partners 40th and found this hotel, read the other reviews, felt happy and booked. It did not disappoint. Getting to the hotel from central is easy and, actually, quite a nice experience being away from the nightlife as we've been there, done that. Upon arrival, The staff were genuinely lovely and advised us that we were upgraded to a suite. Big, gorgeous room, massive beds, two balconies and a very chilled and stylish vibe. After returning from a hazy day in the city, we returned to our room which the staff had decorated with balloons and 2 vouchers for complimentary drinks in the bar. I had told the receptionist that it was my partners surprise when we checked in. It was a lovely, thoughtful gesture and have made us want to return when possible! It's a grand hotel, tastefully decorated, very fairly priced per night, the room service is fab - order the pizza if you're peckish late at night, it's so tasty - there's free bike hire too. The staff make this place just that little bit extra! I should mention there are enough facilities close by to make your stay easier - Caffe Milo on the corner for your snacks and cocktails, Café Kuijper for day time coffee/food and night time live music and beers, the Smoke Palace for some fun and games, David's Coffee & Nuts opposite the hotel is a great little place too plus the numerous corner shops within walking distance. You can walk into central Amsterdam within 20 mins too - which, on a nice sunny day, is a treat. Honestly- this is a lovely place and well worth a consideration if you have outgrown hostels and rip off hotels, and want a bit of luxury. Which is why I have booked to return in April as a surprise for my partner again! I can't wait to return. Thanks for a lovely stay.

“Good room”

Staff were super frindly and kind and polite. Location was great. The problem was that the be thrown was too closet to our bed with a glass door and no lock and no working fan! It was horrible! The smell and humidity from the shower was very unpleasant. Also I did not like the fact that they ran out of slipper and bath rob the first night! We had to keep calling to finally get a set

“Great hotel, lovely stay!”

Really enjoyed my stay here, stayed for 4 nights, rooms were spacious and clean, staff were really freindly, and i quite liked the 'local' location. Only thing i could really say negatively is that there wasn't alot of facilities within the hotel, would really top it off with a Gym/Spa for me.. Would highly recommend this hotel.

“Great base to explore Amsterdam”

We booked this hotel as part of a package deal with easyjet for 4 nights and were very pleased with this hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful. The room was comfortable although I wasn't keen on the glass door in the bathroom! We ate in the hotel restaurant one night which was delicious and finished our evenings in the bar after seeing the sights of the city. Two different tram lines very close by and a nice little local shopping area in walking distance. Good value for money - would definitely stay there again!
