Trendy hotel with luxury rooms and trendy lounge bar

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is situated in a unique building in Amsterdam-Oost: the former Burgerziekenhuis (hospital). This historic building on the Linnaeusstraat was renovated in 2011 into a trendy hotel with luxury rooms and its own Italian restaurant, Enoteca. The hotel is easy to reach by car or public transport. And by tram, bus or bike, you’ll be right in the centre of the city in 7 minutes.

Enoteca’s terrace is a great place. You can enjoy sitting in the sun with a perfect view and delicious drinks and snacks on the table. Feel like doing something? You can take a walk in Oosterpark, go to the Dappermarkt or hire a bicycle to visit a museum in the area. Hermitage Amsterdam, Science Center NEMO, Tropenmuseum and the Joods Historisch Museum are all close by. As is the biggest attraction of Amsterdam-Oost: Artis Zoo.

In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

“Lovely hotel and lovely staff”

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights just after Valentine's Day and arrived at our room to find champagne on the dressing table and rose petals on the bed, which was a lovely touch. The hotel was also clean, modern and bright, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were some of the best hotel employees I've encountered and if I was to visit Amsterdam again, I'd definitely consider staying here again.

“Feeling welcomed, treated like a friend”

The most luxurious entree, very spacious rooms, clean and well maintained. At the front desk you are treated like a friend and feel welcome. A lot of different feelings throughout the hotel. Dining and bars. Great food and delicious whining and dining. No question is unanswered. To bad all good things come to an end. Wish I could have stayed a lot longer.

“Great staff average hotel”

Like some other hotels we have stayed in, the staff were the best thing about it. Those we came into contact with were all charming and very helpful and treated us with a good deal of respect. They were very eager to help and did everything they could to make our stay a good one. Their knowledge of the city and their willingness to help us with questions was excellent. That the hotel could organise our travel passes was a big plus point for us. They provided maps and guidance on where to go, how to get there and what to see in the city. The room we were given was on a long corridor decorated with red crosses. It was interesting decor to say the least. The room itself was ok, but seemed quite cramped. The desk was at the end of the bed and left just a small gap for us to get through. It would have been better had the desk been nearer our window, there was plenty of room for it to be placed there instead of at the end of our bed. The bed, though, was very comfortable and we slept very well indeed. In the room, there were no slippers or gowns, something we thought we might expect from a four star hotel. The heating/aircon was difficult to use and our room was quite warm at times. The bathroom was basic and had a sliding door which did not have a lock. The handle was a simple inset on the door rather than a handle. It looked as if it had not been cleaned in a while and looked like it could be a real haven for germs. When we came back after a day out our room had been cleaned and tidied. We had breakfast included in our room price, however, we found the food rather basic. The choice of hot dishes was limited to reconstituted scrambled eggs, and bacon, plus a few beans and other bits. Few fruit juices were on offer also. A better, more varied breakfast would have been better, for sure. Overall, we thought this hotel did not quite deserve its four stars, though the staff were very good.

“A great break!”

A lovely hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel is a five- eight minutes cab journey into the centre of town for around 12-13 euros. We had a great city break. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other couples.

“very nice”

the hotel is very nice, elegant and comfortable, with bedrooms clean and airy. The hotel is located in an elegant and quiet area, with a beautiful park to visit. Well it served, as indeed throughout the city, with public transportation in about ten minutes are able to bring in the most central areas of Amsterdam.
