In the middle of up-and-coming Amsterdam-Oost

The Hampshire Hotel - The Manor Amsterdam is in the middle of Amsterdam-Oost, the up-and-coming city district. In recent years many great restaurants, cafés and other hotspots have arrived. You can walk easily to Oosterpark from the hotel, where there are regular festivals and other events. The multi-cultural Dappermarkt is also within walking distance. You can also, of course, hire a bicycle to explore the area. A few tips:

Art and culture
In the 17th Century Huize Frankendael there are regular exhibitions, each with its own programme of lectures, debates and sometimes also concerts. You can also take a peaceful walk in the adjacent Park Frankendael, with stylish garden and landscaped garden, a sunny meadow and marsh. The Tropenmuseum tells you all about the daily lives of people from other cultures. At Hermitage Amsterdam, there are impressive art exhibitions. In the Joods Historisch Museum you can learn all about Jewish culture, religion and history.

The Pure Markt comes regularly to Park Frankendael. As well as delicious food and drink, there is theatre, music and a merry-go-round on this market. Great for the entire family. The famous flea market on Waterlooplein is real old-Amsterdam. For herring or a kebab you can visit the lively, multi-cultural Dappermarkt.

Great and educational is Science Center NEMO at Oosterdok. Further on, by the beautiful Scheepvaartmuseum, is a replica of the East India Company ship, Amsterdam.

All the locals, with or without children, visit to Artis regularly to see monkeys and gaze endlessly at the tropical fish in the Aquarium.

Italian dishes with a twist

Restaurant Enoteca
For true Italian enjoyment you can visit our restaurant, Enoteca. The Head Chef makes the most delicious fresh pastas, antipasto misto and traditional fish and meat dishes with a little twist. The menu is offered digitally (tablet) or traditionally (menu). There are no fewer than 25 Italian wines to order by the glass from the wine menu. Breakfast is also served in Enoteca, With a wide choice of fresh dishes and a perfect cappuccino or latte macchiato.

Website Enoteca Amsterdam

You can visit the Loungebar throughout the day for coffee or tea. In the evenings you can order wines and cocktails.

“Great breakfast and excellent staff.”

My family stayed here in July 2017. The staff were exceptional especially Metto the very tall Hotel concierge. My daughter really liked him and called him Bailiwick (the butler from Disney Sofia the first cartoon show) . Thank you Metto for your kindness!

“A Real Gem--with Wild Quaker Parrots in the Trees of the Neighborhood!”

I have been to Amsterdam a number of times for business and pleasure, and have often stayed at a small hotel in the Museum Quarter. However, I recently stayed at the Manor while on business, and I am going to make it my new favorite hotel in Amsterdam. The picture of the facade does not do the justice to the hotel, which is beautifully decorated and located in a real neighborhood where people live (away from the tourist traps). The tram stops just outside the hotel, so you can easily get to the Museum Quarter or the Artis zoo within 10 minutes for little money. The rooms and public spaces are decorated in Euro-chic decor and everything feels spacious with very high ceilings. There are two real pluses. There is a very nice Italian restaurant on-site, so if you are a woman traveling alone you can have a yummy dinner without having to order room service or feel odd sitting in a strange restaurant. The restaurant staff is very friendly and it isn't uncomfortable to sit there for a few hours. Finally, the real bonus is the flock of wild Quaker Parrots who visit the trees outside the hotel and greet the guests. The staff explained that the flock lived in the neighborhood. If you are a parrot lover who miss your own birds while traveling, this is the place for you!

“Great stay”

We stayed for 6 nights. We were very impressed with the staff. They were very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. Though we arrived very early in the morning, they rushed to get our room ready while they made us comfortable in their restaurant. We must mention Mr. Menno who is such a great asset to your hotel.

The hotel was very accommodating. Very clean. Elegant, at a very reasonable price. Would definitely stay there again! Do not hesitate to book this hotel. Even though the free breakfast was not included when we booked, the clerk gave us a complimentary one for the next morning!!

“Great Hotel”

This hotel was great, nothing over the top frilly but a very comfortable hotel with a great staff that speaks English well and has lots of good recommendations. I would stay here again. It was nice and quiet but still in a lively neighborhood!
